It’s no secret that the renowned rapper Snoop Dog enjoys smoking marijuana. In fact, over the past decades, he has become a vocal advocate for cannabis use, both in his public appearances and on social media.
A few months ago, to the surprise of his more than 100 million followers, he announced his decision to quit smoking. “After much thought and discussion with my family, I have decided to stop smoking,” stated the rapper, whose real name is Calvin Broadus Jr., asking for privacy during this period.
The number of joints Snoop Dogg smoked a day
Back in 2013, claims emerged that Snoop Dogg smoked 80 cannabis joints a day. The rapper himself provided this information in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, though he later consistently denied smoking such an amount.
Several years ago it also came to light that he had hired someone solely to roll his joints. The rapper even discussed their salary, which would be around 50,000 dollars, taking into consideration inflation.
One of these individuals, Renegade Piranha, claimed that the new owner of Death Row Records liked to smoke at least half a pound of marijuan a day, which depending on the strength of each joint would be the equivalent of between 75 and 150 joints.
That would work out at getting on for half a million joints during the time he has worked for the rapper, a claim Snoop Dog has vehemently denied: “Stop lying, how… am I supposed to smoke that much weed in one day, what am I, a… machine?”
Not Snoop’s first rodeo
The truth is, this is not the first time Snoop Dogg has publicly announced his intention to quit smoking. About 20 years ago, on Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show, he made a similar declaration, aiming to be a more responsible father. Two decades later, he is attempting it again. And for now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
