If you’re going to start reading this article, please be aware that it contains spoilers, a whole heap of dreaded spoilers. If you’d rather keep what happens in Reacher a surprise, head off and check out our other great content.
If you’re still here… well, things get very ugly for Jack Reacher’s team, made up of the survivors of the 110th Special Investigations Unit: Neagley, Dixon, and O’Donnell, along with Reacher himself.
Guy Russo, an incorruptible New York policeman
Joining them is Guy Russo, a relentless inspector of the New York Police Department, whose father was also a member of the “best police force in the world.” The second season starts with a confrontation between Russo and Reacher, who, as the plot progresses, join forces to face a common enemy, Langston.
In fact, Reacher trusts Russo to take care of Jane, the daughter of Marlo Burns, who knows the criminal history of New Age. In the final minutes of the sixth episode of the season, Russo has to face three of Langston’s thugs, who chase him and little Jane in a car.
The last moments of Russo in ‘Reacher’
Despite Russo’s attempts to escape from the three men, he ends up in a dead-end in a construction area of New York City. The policeman gives little Jane a chance to escape, while he tries to take down Langston’s men. Two of them die and another flees. Unfortunately, Russo also seems to fall after receiving several bullet impacts in the chest.
His apparent death, in the arms of Neagley (who had just run over the third assailant with her car), is one of the most emotional moments of the series. Reacher’s colleague holds Russo’s hand, even though she dislikes physical contact. Is this the end of Russo in Reacher’s story? It seems so unless there is a final surprise.
