One of Prime Video’s hit shows of 2022, ‘The Terminal List,’ returns in 2024 with an action-packed second season. This next chapter stars James Reece (Chris Pratt), who has avenged his team and family throughout the first season, culminating in a climactic finale that tied up many loose ends while leaving others dangling for a new adventure.
How the first part of ‘The Terminal List’ ended
If you continue reading and haven’t watched the series, you will find spoilers for the events of ‘Reclamation,’ the last episode of Series one of ‘The Terminal List,’ a series based on the popular action and thriller novels by Jack Carr.
James Reece is in a tough spot. He has compiled a list of people he must kill in revenge for the deaths of his unit members and his family, who were mercilessly executed. With the help of his SEAL friend Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch) and journalist Katie Buranek (Constance Wu), Reece sets out to eliminate each person on this list.
After killing Admiral Pillar, our hero learns that he and his teammates were part of an experiment involving a drug called RD4895, designed to eliminate post-traumatic stress in soldiers. Unfortunately, this drug eventually causes brain tumors in members of Reece’s Alpha Team.
They have all been executed except for Reece and Boozer, who is later found dead at his home, apparently by his own hand. With Katie’s help, Reece finds Secretary Hartley, the ninth and, for now, final name on the list. But before Reece can execute her, Hartley commits suicide.
All the information about Operation Odin Sword is exposed, and Katie discovers who the recipient of the payments from Oberon Analytics is, as well as the mole who leaked the names of the Alpha Team. It also means there is now a tenth name on the list.
Reece’s last name on the list: an old acquaintance
Unfortunately, the tenth name on the list is his friend Ben Edwards. Reece travels to Edwards’ retreat. His friend explains why he betrayed their teammates, beyond just the money: “Let them die with their fucking boots on instead of in a hospital bed.” However, Ben denies that he had anything to do with the deaths of Reece’s wife Lauren and daughter Lucy.
Reece executes Edwards and looks at the list one last time. Turning it over, he finds a family drawing by Lucy. He places the drawing over his heart, commits it to memory, and lets the wind carry it into the ocean, ready for a new adventure heading to Mozambique, following ‘True Believer,’ the next book in Jack Carr’s novel series.
